Britney Spears Enters Rehab Weeks After DUI Arrest

Britney Spears has voluntarily entered a rehabilitation facility, five weeks after her arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

The 44-year-old pop star checked herself into a substance abuse treatment center, according to an email shared with The Associated Press on Sunday.

Spears was arrested March 5 after the California Highway Patrol received reports of a BMW speeding and driving erratically on U.S. Highway 101 in Ventura County, near the Los Angeles County line.

She was later taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol and booked into Ventura County Main Jail, northwest of Los Angeles. Spears, who lives in the area, was released several hours later.

She is scheduled to appear in court May 4 in connection with the case.

Spears has largely stayed away from the music industry in recent years. In 2024, she said she would “never return to the music industry,” extending her break from pop music.
