The 2025 Shanghai Half Marathon set new records Sunday as runners from around the world gathered at the iconic Oriental Pearl Tower to kick off the race, praising its vibrant atmosphere and inclusive spirit.
The event, now in its second year since earning Gold Label status from World Athletics in 2024, achieved several milestones. More than 110,000 people registered for the race, a record high and for the first time, athletes with Platinum Label status were invited to compete.
Organizers also hosted the event under the standards of World Athletics’ Platinum Label for the first time, further elevating the race’s global stature.
