Rwanda Mourns Deputy Government Spokesperson Alain Mukuralinda

The Government of Rwanda has confirmed the passing of Deputy Government Spokesperson, Alain Mukuralinda, who died on Thursday, April 3, following a heart attack.

In an official statement released on Friday, April 4, the government announced that Mukuralinda passed away at King Faisal Hospital (KFH), where he had earlier been admitted and was reported to be in a coma.

“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing away of our colleague Alain Mukuralinda, the Deputy Government Spokesperson, at KFH hospital following complications from a heart attack,” the statement read.

The government extended its condolences to Mukuralinda’s family, colleagues, and friends.

Mukuralinda, 55, served as Deputy Government Spokesperson since December 2021. He had previously served as a National Prosecutor and Spokesperson of the National Public Prosecution Authority.

Beyond his public service career, Mukuralinda was also a well-known musician. Popularly known as Alain Muku in the music scene, he released songs such as Tsinda Batsinde—a tribute to Rwanda’s national football team Amavubi—Gloria, a Christmas tune, and Murekatete, a love song.

He was also known for promoting traditional Rwandan music and supporting local artists, including Mani Martin and Nsengiyumva François, famously known as “Igisupusupu.” Additionally, Mukuralinda was a strong supporter of Rwandan football talent.

His contributions to public service and the arts leave a lasting legacy.
