Pakistan Plans to Nominate Trump for Nobel Peace Prize

Pakistan has announced its intention to nominate former U.S. President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, crediting him with helping to negotiate a ceasefire between Pakistan and India last month.

In a statement shared on social media platform X, the Pakistani government praised Trump’s “decisive diplomatic intervention” and “pivotal leadership” during what it called a tense standoff between the two nuclear-armed nations.

The announcement refers to a ceasefire declared in May after four days of clashes. Trump had publicly claimed credit for brokering the agreement, saying the U.S. used diplomatic and trade pressure to help end the hostilities. Pakistan has supported this version of events.

“President Trump demonstrated great strategic foresight and stellar statesmanship,” the Pakistani government said, describing him as a “genuine peacemaker.”

However, India has strongly denied that the U.S. played any mediating role and maintains that it does not accept third-party involvement in its disputes with Pakistan. New Delhi has not yet responded to the latest statement from Islamabad.

The Nobel Peace Prize winner for this year will be announced in October. Trump has frequently suggested he deserves the award for various diplomatic efforts during his presidency.

There has been no immediate response from U.S. officials.
