More African Countries Face U.S. Visa Delays and Travel Restrictions in 2025

The United States government has expanded its list of African countries facing major visa delays and new travel restrictions. Morocco has now joined Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Zambia, and others in what is becoming a growing challenge for African travelers.

Officials say the affected countries were flagged for issues such as unreliable identification systems, high visa overstay rates, and lack of cooperation in accepting deported nationals.

The policy, which began earlier in 2025, introduced stricter visa screening and partial travel bans for several nations across Africa and the Middle East. Reports suggest that up to 36 more countries could be added to the list if they fail to meet U.S. requirements for documentation and border control within the next two months.

For many Africans, the new rules have already led to longer waiting times, denied applications, and increased uncertainty over travel plans for work, study, and tourism.
