Mbappé Freezes PSG Accounts in €55M Unpaid Wages Dispute

Kylian Mbappé has taken legal action against his former club, Paris Saint-Germain, over €55 million ($59 million) in unpaid wages and bonuses, resulting in a court-ordered freeze on the club’s bank accounts, his legal team said Thursday.

The Real Madrid-bound star has been seeking the disputed payment for more than a year. A legal hearing on the matter is scheduled for May 26.

“This story has been going on for just over a year now,” Mbappé’s lawyer, Delphine Verheyden, told reporters. “We set a deadline to resolve the dispute peacefully. But as the months passed, Kylian Mbappé still hasn’t been paid the missing €55 million. A decision has been taken to go on the attack.”

Legal expert Thomas Clay confirmed that Mbappé was granted authorization for a precautionary seizure of funds, resulting in the freeze of PSG’s accounts.

Verheyden said she plans to appeal to key sports authorities, including France’s sports minister and UEFA, in an effort to resolve the case. She also suggested PSG could face consequences in European competition if found at fault.

The French Professional Football League (LFP) previously ordered PSG to pay the sum, but the French Football Federation ruled Mbappé’s request inadmissible due to ongoing civil proceedings.

PSG did not immediately comment Thursday. In a statement last October, the club said it was still pursuing an “amicable solution” but would be “forced to bring the case before the competent courts” if no agreement was reached.
