Kendrick Lamar and SZA are set to team up for the Super Bowl LIX halftime show, Lamar announced Thursday on social media.
In a video posted to his verified accounts, Lamar appears on a football field, speaking on his phone about preparing for the performance.
“You know, this field is a lot bigger than people think, so that’s a must,” Lamar says in the clip. Moments later, he hints at inviting a guest performer, just as SZA sneaks up behind him and pours a large container of blue liquid over his head.
The announcement comes shortly after it was revealed that Lamar and SZA will embark on a joint tour in April. The two frequent collaborators recently worked together on Lamar’s surprise album, GNX, contributing to the singles “Luther” and “Gloria.” They also collaborated on “30 for 30” from SZA’s album, Lana.
The Super Bowl, held at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, will air Sunday, Feb. 9, at 6:30 p.m. EST on Fox. Lamar is the halftime show headliner, with SZA joining as a special guest.
