Security officials from more than 100 countries, including representatives from Iran and BRICS member states, gathered in Moscow on Wednesday for the 13th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues.
The three-day summit, held May 27–29, brings together 126 delegations from 104 countries, including members of international organizations such as BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the League of Arab States, the African Union and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
On the sidelines of the summit, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu held bilateral talks with several visiting officials, including Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Akbar Ahmadian, Bosnian Serb President Milorad Dodik and North Korea’s State Security Minister Ri Chang-dae.
During his meeting with Ahmadian, Shoigu said he hoped Iran would soon ratify a strategic partnership agreement with Russia, emphasising deepening bilateral cooperation. Shoigu also lauded Russia’s ties with North Korea, which he described as strong despite the current “complex international situation.”
The summit aims to strengthen international dialogue on security threats and promote multilateral cooperation among allied and partner nations.
