Goldberg Hosts Festival of Drums & Light

Football, music and culture came together on Saturday, January 10, as Goldberg hosted the Festival of Drums & Light, a large-scale match-viewing experience at Pako Field in Dopemu, Lagos.

The event began in the early evening with a performance by veteran singer Yinka Davies, setting the tone ahead of kickoff. Cultural dancers and a coordinated display of talking drums performed across the field, drawing early crowds and building anticipation.

Fans packed the venue as they gathered to watch Nigeria national football team face Algeria national football team in a knockout match. Supporters sang, drummed and cheered throughout the game, creating a lively atmosphere around the giant viewing screens.

On the pitch, Nigeria secured a 2–0 victory. Victor Osimhen opened the scoring shortly after halftime with a header from a cross by Bruno Onyemaechi. Minutes later, Osimhen assisted Akor Adams, who rounded the goalkeeper to score Nigeria’s second goal and seal the win.

Each goal was met with loud celebrations at the venue, as fans waved flags, danced and chanted in support of the team. The final whistle sparked even more excitement, with the crowd breaking into songs and spontaneous celebrations.

After the match, the entertainment continued with performances by Zlatan Ibile, followed by Mavo and Segun Johnson, keeping the energy high well into the night. DJs and hypemen later took over for an after-party that turned the field into a dance floor.

Organisers described the event as part of Goldberg’s “Our Beat, Our Gold” campaign, aimed at blending football viewing with live music and cultural performances.

Attendees were seen raising bottles and cans of the brand as they celebrated the team’s victory together.

Goldberg is set to return to Pako Field on Wednesday, January 10, to host another Festival of Drums & Light for Nigeria’s semi-final match against Morocco, with organisers promising a similar mix of football, music and fan-driven atmosphere.
