Egypt and Kenya Strengthen Ties With New Agreements

Kenyan President William Ruto and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi signed 12 agreements in Cairo, aiming to enhance trade, investment, education, and technological collaboration between their nations.

During their discussions, the leaders also addressed the ongoing conflict in Gaza. El-Sissi firmly rejected a proposal from former U.S. President Donald Trump suggesting that Palestinians be relocated to Egypt and Jordan.

“Regarding what is being said about the displacement of the Palestinian people, I would like to reassure the Egyptian people that harm to Egypt’s national security could never be tolerated or allowed,” el-Sissi said. “We intend to work with President Trump to achieve peace based on the two-state solution, and we believe he is capable of bringing just and sustainable peace to the Middle East.”

Trump’s remarks about “clearing out” Gaza have drawn widespread criticism. It remains uncertain whether the U.S. could exert pressure on Egypt and Jordan to comply with the proposal.
