Kigali is gearing up for a major sporting and entertainment spectacle as the Basketball Africa League (BAL) returns to BK Arena from May 17 to 25. The Nile Conference games will see four top clubs battle it out for the final two playoff spots.
This marks the first time the Nile Conference is being hosted in Kigali, and organizers are promising more than just thrilling basketball. A star-studded halftime show will add to the excitement, blending the energy of music and sport for fans in attendance.
Leading the entertainment lineup is Ghanaian afrobeats star King Promise, known for his chart-topping hit Terminator. He will be joined by some of Rwanda’s hottest music acts, including Ariel Wayz, Kivumbi King, and fast-rising rapper Kid from Kigali.
On the court, Rwanda’s own APR Basketball Club will be fighting for a playoff spot alongside Al Ahly Tripoli (Libya), Nairobi City Thunder (Kenya), and Made In Ball Basketball Club (South Africa). The top two teams will earn tickets to the BAL playoffs scheduled to take place in Pretoria, South Africa, this June.
Since its inception in 2019 through a partnership between the NBA and FIBA, the BAL has grown into Africa’s premier basketball competition, bringing together the continent’s top talent in a unique blend of sports, culture, and entertainment.
With high-stakes games and big-name performances, Kigali is set for an unforgettable week of hoops and hits.
