Ayra Starr Wins Best International Act at 2025 BET Awards

Nigerian music sensation Ayra Starr has clinched the coveted Best International Act award at the 2025 BET Awards, solidifying her status as one of Africa’s leading global music exports.

The 22-year-old singer, known for her distinct Afro-pop sound and powerful vocals, made history as the youngest Nigerian artist to win the award. She edged out a competitive lineup of international stars, including fellow Nigerian artists Tyla and Asake.

Held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, the star-studded event celebrated Black excellence in music, film, sports, and culture. In her emotional acceptance speech, Ayra Starr expressed gratitude to her fans, family, and label, Mavin Records. “This is for all the young African girls dreaming big,” she said, receiving a standing ovation.

Ayra’s rise to global fame has been meteoric since the release of her debut album 19 & Dangerous, which included hits like Bloody Samaritan and Rush. Her music has consistently topped charts across Africa and gained traction on international platforms, including Billboard and Spotify.
