Nigerian travel influencer Alma Asinobi has launched an ambitious attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the fastest time to visit all seven continents. The 26-year-old globetrotter, who initially delayed her journey due to unforeseen circumstances, has now begun her race against the clock, aiming to complete the feat in just 60 hours.
Dubbed #AlmaChasingContinents, the mission is about more than speed—it is a statement on breaking barriers, particularly for travelers with low-mobility passports like Nigeria’s. Alma is not simply passing through airports; she is setting foot in cities across North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Oceania, after starting in Antarctica. If successful, she will surpass the current record of 64 hours, set by American Johnny Buckingham in February 2025. Originally planning a 70-hour journey, she revised her strategy to meet the new benchmark, demonstrating her resilience and competitive drive.
“This journey is bigger than me,” Alma told Techpoint Africa. “It’s about showing the world what’s possible when African women and others with limited travel access dare to dream.”
To meet Guinness World Records’ verification requirements, Alma must provide timestamped evidence from each continent. She is relying on portable cameras, GPS tracking, and social media check-ins to document her progress. Months of physical and mental preparation, including a recent wellness check with therapists, have equipped her for the demanding challenge. Facing unpredictable weather, tight flight schedules, and the limitations of a Nigerian passport, ranked among the world’s least mobile by Henley & Partners, she remains determined to complete her journey.
Since launching her travel content career in 2020, Alma has built a following of more than 200,000 across platforms and collaborated with brands such as Sony and Mastercard. Named one of List NG’s Top 100 Most Influential Nigerians in 2024, she is the youngest and only Black solo traveler attempting this record. Her attempt comes amid a wave of record-breaking enthusiasm in West Africa, where Guinness World Records has received more than 7,000 applications since 2023.
Whether or not she claims the title, Alma’s journey is already a testament to resilience, creativity, and the power of ambition. As the world follows her progress under the hashtag #7in60, she is proving that borders are no match for determination.
